Who Tricia Is

As a counsellor in New Maryland NB, I offer compassionate, trauma‑informed support for individuals of all ages. I am a Licensed Counselling Therapist and Canadian Certified Counsellor serving clients in New Brunswick and across Canada*. Based in New Maryland, NB, I bring warmth, honesty, and genuine care to every session. I believe people heal best when they feel safe, respected, and understood. Because of this, I work hard to create a welcoming space where you can show up exactly as you are.
I live with my husband, two boys, and our Labrador Retrievers. Outside of counselling, I enjoy learning, walking outdoors, travelling, music, and spending time in nature. My office is nestled in a peaceful natural setting that offers a calming and grounding environment. When appropriate, both indoor and outdoor therapy sessions are available.
With more than 25 years of experience supporting youth, adults, and families, I bring both professional expertise and real-life perspective to my work. Throughout my career, I have served as a school counsellor, educator, Child and Youth Team member, ASD West clinician, and live-in Don at UNB. My education includes a Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Education, and Master of Education in Counselling Psychology. I have also completed specialized training in Violence and Threat Risk Assessment (VTRA Levels 1 and 2), ASSIST Suicide Intervention, and ASK Suicide Risk Assessment for children.
As a counsellor in New Maryland NB, Tricia is committed to creating a space where clients feel understood, respected, and gently supported.
How I Work
My approach is gentle, person-centred, and grounded in connection and trust. I listen closely, offer steady encouragement, and provide practical tools that support emotional regulation, resilience, and personal growth. In addition, I use psychoeducation to help clients better understand their experiences and make informed choices about their healing journey.
I understand that finding the right therapist is a deeply personal process. That is why I offer a free 15-minute consultation to help ensure the therapeutic relationship feels like a good fit. Healing happens through connection, curiosity, and compassion, and my goal is to help you feel safe, seen, and supported every step of the way.
A Neurodiversity-Affirming and Inclusive Practice
I welcome neurodivergent clients, including autistic, ADHD, dyslexic, and otherwise neurodivergent individuals. I see neurodiversity as a natural and valuable way of experiencing the world. As a result, I adapt therapy to fit your unique sensory, communication, and learning needs while respecting your pace and preferred ways of processing information.
Clients often appreciate having a counsellor in New Maryland NB who honours neurodiversity, identity, and lived experience with compassion and respect. I recognize how neurodivergence can intersect with other identities, including 2SLGBTQIA+ experiences. My practice is committed to creating an inclusive environment where all forms of difference are welcomed, respected, and celebrated. Every client deserves to feel a sense of belonging.
